In the past few months and even years I've been to a number of networking events. Some of them have been great and I've walked away with information I can use or someone I've met who's become a client. Others... and by others I mean quite a lot, I find you get stuck talking to THAT person. The person who you don't have a lot in common with, who's services you don't need and who don't need your services. You find the whole two hours or whatever it is was a waste and you walk away wishing you would have just stayed home and watched Netflix.
This is what I want to address and change. The beauty in speed networking is that each person gets 3-5 minutes to do their elevator pitch (another great benefit! You get to practice your elevator pitch!) You get right to the point: say what you're about, they say what they're about, and you both know if there's synergy straight away. If there's not, no big deal, if yes, awesome, make a plan to meet again. Of course you also exchange business cards, so you can follow up. SUPER SIMPLE. No one's stuck wishing they were snuggling their cat at home. Win, win. PLUS, by the end of the night, you should have between 10-30+ business cards of people you can follow up with (obviously, not spam, but just give a follow up email "Hey, nice meeting you...let's do it again.")
Now, I want to add another layer. The theme, Corporates Meet Creatives. Corporates can have their head in the sand when it comes to website, photography, branding, logos, social media, etc... and Creatives can have their head in the sand when it comes to contract, accounting, business planning, etc. What better than to have them meet and see what they're both missing out on.
Lastly, cost. This Meetup will include drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and snacks in addition to the networking you'll get done.
Interested? Awesome! Click through the Eventbrite, pay the $10 plus service charge and you're all set! I'm SUPER excited to see you there!”
